FAQs

What is a trial and how do I know if I need one?

A makeup trial is just what it sounds like!  It is a chance for us to meet, talk about your expectations for your wedding makeup, and decide what your preferences are. This is a chance to take our time and try out products that would work best for you depending on your skin type, skin tone, and the kind of makeup look you are hoping to achieve. A trial is not 100% necessary before your wedding, however many brides find it useful to put any fears or anxieties about not looking how they want on the day of to rest by having a “practice run” beforehand! Trials can be important so you are not going into your big day with any surprises, and so your makeup looks exactly how you want it to for the day of. It allows helps things to run more smoothly on the day of, and save getting ready time since I will already know what the plan for your desired look is! This is the chance to experiment.  Not sure if you want lashes for your wedding?  Are interested in a dewy look but have oily skin? Do not wear makeup often and want to try it out first? A trial is the time to answer any questions you have and decide what you like! For trial pricing information, see the wedding services section. If you have any questions regarding makeup trials, feel free to contact me using the contact form, I would love to chat!

The recommended time to book your trial is at least 4-8 weeks before your wedding date. Trials are NOT mobile. Trials will take place in my home-studio in Barrhaven.

Where are you located?

I am a mobile makeup artist and will travel to you for your makeup services on the day of (not including trials). Travel fees do apply to accommodate for travel time, gas, kit fees, and when necessary, parking. I am located in Barrhaven and determine travel rates based on distance from my home.

How much does travel cost?

It depends! Please provide the address where you will be getting ready at to receive a quote with travel costs when inquiring about services or booking with me. Please note if an additional artist is required (large party size, time constraint, etc.) these fees do not include the second artists’ fees, or travel for trials.

How much do you charge for makeup?

Please see the “Services” section for standard makeup/prom makeup rates, and the “Weddings” section for bridal and wedding party pricing!

What forms of payment do you accept and when do I have to pay you by?

I currently accept both cash and electronic e-mail payments. Payments must be made either before or on the day of the application before leaving.  If you are receiving a trial for your makeup, trials should be paid for on the day of the trial.

What do you require for me to book your services?

I require a non-refundable, non-transferable $30 deposit per application, as well as a contract to be signed in order to confirm your booking and reserve your date!

How long will getting my makeup/my bridal party’s makeup done take?

The amount of time will vary depending on your desired makeup look.  Typically, a full-face application requires about 50-60 minutes per person, however, some makeup looks will require more or less time depending on the intricacy of the makeup look.

Do I need fake eyelashes?

It is your choice!  False eyelashes come in many different shapes, styles and lengths, which means there is definitely an option for every eye shape and preference.  False lashes help enhance the eyes, especially in the event where photos will be taken.  They can take your makeup look to another level and add a glamourous aspect that just mascara cannot. A stunning makeup look can still be achieved without false lashes.

If you are not interested in full-strip lashes, you can request individual or cluster lashes which can be applied individually to give a subtle lift and slight drama to the eye. This is a gorgeous option that looks quite natural but still adds definition. This is a great option for those who are on the fence about going all-in with full lashes for the first time.

I offer standard false lashes, individual lashes, Faux Mink lashes, & 100% Mink lashes. Feel free to discuss with me which option would be best for you depending on your style, preference and budget ($15-$45).

Can I get just my eye makeup/face makeup done?

Unfortunately I do not offer half services (just eyes, just face, etc.). Every makeup look that I create on a client is a reflection of my business/artistry, and I always want to ensure that it portrays the quality of services that I offer my clients and take pride in! For example, if I only did eye makeup on a bride due to their dislike of face makeup and left their face bare, the photos may not turn out optimally and I would not be comfortable sending them out not “fully finished”. As a makeup artist, my responsibility is to ensure you feel confident and beautiful on your special day, however I also have a responsibility to provide expert advice and recommendations to ensure you are getting the most of the services you are paying for. I am very flexible in tailoring your makeup to fit a desired look, and have the products and techniques to achieve it. I am happy to work with you to make sure you love your makeup and feel amazing in it while also making sure it lasts and will function optimally depending on the event (longevity, photography, etc.).

This is a personal choice, I am sure many other artists may offer this type of service. This is why it is important to chose an artist that is a good fit for you!

Why should I choose you as my makeup artist?

You should choose an artist who you feel would be a good fit for you and what you are looking for in a makeup artist. Your makeup artist plays a huge role in how you feel on your big day! Not only are they with you getting ready for multiple hours the morning of while nerves and emotions are flowing, but they are responsible for making sure you and your favorite people feel absolutely STUNNING on one of the biggest days of your life!

My goals as your makeup artist are a few things:

1) I want you to feel so beautiful on your wedding day! I want your bridal makeup to be an experience; from the products I use in my kit, to the application process… you deserve to be treated extra special on your wedding, and I always do my best to ensure my brides feel even better than they had expected.

2) I want us to be friends! If you are currently planning a wedding, you know that you spend a ton of hours interacting with your wedding vendors and communicating back and forth and the relationship you develop is important! My goal is for you to feel comfortable enough with me to express what you are looking for, and not feel afraid to let me know if there is something you’d like done differently! There is something so special about being apart of a bride’s morning on her wedding, getting to see them popping champagne with their bridesmaids, crying after reading a card from their partner, dancing and singing to 90’s throwbacks with their girls, and looking in the mirror once they are all glammed up - it truly is so special to be apart of! I hope to create that connection with you on your big day!

3) I don’t want you worrying about the makeup - that is my job! There are so many other details that will be occupying your mind, and worrying whether your mother-in-law will like her makeup should not be a concern if yours. I take pride in my years of professional experience with so many different skin types, textures, colours and tones. I work with various products, and know what looks, consistencies and ingredients will work best depending on a client’s skin concerns, desires or needs. Choosing an experienced artist who you can trust will have the products, knowledge and expertise to work with all of your girls with no fuss is so important, not only for your peace of mind, but to ensure everyone feels great, and remains on time on your big day.

After doing wedding makeup for almost 10 years and being apart of hundreds of “getting ready” mornings with brides at so many different locations, I have come to know the ins and outs, tips and tricks of how to make sure the morning runs smoothly. I would be happy to assist with your morning-of timeline assistance if you are unsure of how to plan it out, how much time to allot for certain things, etc. Feel free to ask about this, I am so happy and willing to provide any insight I can :)

If you have any other questions that were not answered, feel free to get in touch with me; I would love to hear from you! :)
